When Darkness Was All..

Next to him the boy saw his dad reading a newspaper. In front of him, he saw his mother reading a book.

 

How bored does one have to be to read? The boy asked himself.

 

Then the kid asked himself..

 

Is there anything that I could read? And not get bored within a few pages?

 

The teenager remembered that as a child, his granddad would tell him stories before he went to bed. Those stories would stay in his head for days, actually they still get back into his head sometimes.. Hesitating the kid stood up and went upstairs. The Chamber of the Books was his destination. That title was given to the library of the teenager's house, because it's the library where it all started, The Story of Nocrone. Inside the library the kid was looking all-around and mostly up. It was an old dusty place with bookshelves all-around, reaching to the ceiling. Normally the dust and the old stuff, including the books, would make the kid leave the library the first moment. But not this time, this time the teenager was on a desperate mission to end his boredom.

 

As one could've guessed.. the boy found this book.. he remembered Nocrone as one of his bedtime stories, granddad would tell from the book every evening. Specially the first chapter of the book was stuck inside the head of the kid.

 

The teenager went to his bedroom and sat on his bed made from straw. With the book on his lap, the kid looked at the title:

 

 

With his mind full of memories, the young child couldn't resist to quickly open the book. Again the first page had the title of the book written all over it. The next page was unwritten. The third page had a little introduction into the story and the world of Nocrone. Here are the highlights of that introduction:

 

 

 

Misty clouds, darkness and fire.. that's what sums up the World of Nocrone. Don't think you know that world.. don't think you've ever seen that world. Don't think about the unfortunate fate to get lost in that world. Blood, killing, greed, power. Not even war, just senseless killing. Kill what you can, grab what you can. Don't be the second best, because second best in the World of Nocrone means your head on a spike, next to those thousands, tens of thousands, of other lost souls. You got only one choice to make and that choice will decide all, seal your fate. Your choice is, who will I join? Will I join the Greedy Human King, the Bloodthirsty Orc King, the Kill-All Skeleton Queen or the Hungry Bat Ghost Queen? And yes, there is some magic involved.. don't think you make it far with merely sticks and stones. Betrayal, traps, tricks, thievery.. rivals. Even these words written here, could be a spell leading unfortunate ones into unforseen places. Be warned.. mind tricks are included, don't have the illusion that your thoughts are always your own, in the World of Nocrone. A pretty lady in a bar could be the real deal or a stealthed poisonous spider waiting for it's moment to strike. The same danger is lurking for you too ladies.. trust no one. Danger.. that's another way to sum up the world described in this book. And the danger of danger is.. for some it may chase them away.. but for some.. the darkness, the danger.. for some it intrigues. Be aware..
